Beauty moments at SS27 Fashion Month that we can’t get over

Spring/Summer 2027 Fashion Month was packed with iconic fashion moments, but that's not what I want to put a spotlight on today, because the beauty this season also deserves its flowers. From makeup to hair to nails to prosthetics, here are the brands and designers that's beauty teams worked overtime to help create a truly jaw-dropping final look. Because we mustn't forget: no fashion show would be the same without its beauty team!

Chanel’s nails are always chic

Chanel’s nail art has been consistently flawless, but this season Matthieu Blazy’s beauty team — with nail art headed up by Ama Quashie — took elevated to another level. Nails were edged in gold, with the iconic “CC” logo on the tips. This is a look I need to replicate.

Lashes to the max at Rick Owens

Rick Owens and his lead makeup artist Daniel Sällström are both known for pushing boundaries and experimenting with the unconventional, and this season that manifested as huge ‘eyelashes’ that didn’t even attach directly to models eyes. Almost owl-like in appearance, these are a statement, and I’m obsessed.

A statement smokey eye at Gucci

At Gucci’s Cruise show, we were introduced to the fill extent of MUA Sam Visser’s maximalist smokey eye, but SS27 saw the same look with an added touch of neon pink, cobalt, turquoise, or burgundy. I thought Gucci’s smokey new look was already as good as it was going to get, but this is a step even further and I need to try it.

Bold beauty & prosthetics at Matières Fécales

Matières Fécales’ SS27 show made a strong statement about the state of the world right now, emphasised by the empowered beauty and prosthetics on the runway. Lead makeup artists Jessie Lefler, Joe Brooks, and Thibaut Marieke worked with SFX artist Catalina Sartor to build a world that felt perfectly Matières Fécales.

Mugler’s alien-esque hair moment

This season, Mugler’s Head of Hair Louis Ghewy was given the brief “animal kingdom on an acid trip,” and that’s what his team created. Shockingly bright feathered wigs contrasted with alien-meets-sea-creator style up-dos. The whole array of hair looks were a blend of club culture, alien influence, aquatic references, and birds of prey, which we loved.
