What we know about Doja Cat’s new era and upcoming album so far

Doja Cat’s dropping hints about her new era, with her album “Vie” pending release. Here’s what we know so far.

Since deleting the old images from her socials taken in her “Scarlet” era, Doja Cat has uploaded a number of posts where she seems to be emulating ‘80s icon Grace Jones. The model/singer/actress is known for championing individuality and self-expression, famous for her hairstyle which Doja’s pictured recreating.

The use of a track by ‘80s band Prince & The Revolution in Doja Cat’s latest post is also telling as to her new era’s sound. Prince & The Revolution was an American band popular in the ‘80s, known for its blending of rock, pop, R&B, funk, new wave, and psychedelic elements.

All clues so far point to Doja taking her new era’s sound back a few decades and reviving the synth groove of the ‘80s. With a few of her tracks from her new album – including “Cards” and “Acts of Service” – having been leaked on socials (by herself) were already seeing how she’s bringing this vibe to life.

While there still is not a release date finalised for Doja Cat’s upcoming album, we do have a name – “Vie” – and a full track list. Stay tuned for more info as it comes.
