Wondering how It-girls celebrate Valentine’s day? With DEBUTE, duh!
Last week, we caught up with the design duo behind DEBUTE, sisters Lola Butee and Jazzy De Lisser, at their Valentine’s dinner celebrating the launch of DEBUTE’s sultry ‘Two of Hearts’ Valentine’s collection. Hosted at The Dorchester, the prestigious London hotel where the likes of Elizabeth Taylor have spent the night, we explored the Oliver Messel Suite with Jazzy and Lola and found out about the new collection’s inspiration before their It-girl Galentine’s guests arrived.

Inside The Dorchester’s Oliver Messel Suite, we met Jazzy and Lola in a robin egg blue hallway brimming with red roses, that opened out into the opulent living space where the girls were hosting an intimate Valentine’s dinner for their closest friends. They were both dressed in The Rose Dress, a slip from DEBUTE’s Two of Hearts collection, which just dropped in time for Valentine’s Day.
Talking to the girls about the collection, Lola explained, “This slip – the Rose Slip, our Valentine’s dress – has been heavily inspired by our Tallulah Slip which was our best seller and all of friends love. It’s sold out, we’ll bring them back, but this is our Valentine’s “wintery” version.” Jazzy followed up, “This is my favourite dress I think we’ve made! The whole way it’s designed, with support in the top, I love it.”

When I asked them who they had in mind as the inspiration for The Rose Dress, Lola said, “I think we inspire the dresses, but for my character tonight, I’m channeling Margot Robbie in “The Wolf of Wall Street”.” Jazzy elaborated that, “It’s quite old Hollywood glam, and that’s what we love about this suite as well. I mean, we love everything about this suite, but apparently Elizabeth Taylor signed her “Cleopatra” deal in one of The Dorchester’s suites. I don’t know if it’s this one, but let’s say it was this one.”

Talking about the inspiration behind the collection, I asked the girls what kind of person they imagined wearing it, and where they might be going. Lola said, “I think [I imagined] a girl that can be herself and wants to have fun. We want girls to feel confident, and empowered, and themselves.” Jazzy followed up, “Today, we were wearing it in the day with like tights and boots and cardigans, but you can dress it up or you can wear as a night or you can wear it out. It’s what you make it!”
